Nevada State Assemblywoman Shea Backus, who represents District 37 which includes Sun City Summerlin, kicks off her monthly office hours this month on Sunday, September 22, 3-5 p.m. at Desert Vista, Room 3. The meetings are designed to give residents dealing with social, veterans, domestic issues and more a forum for assistance. The sessions are not intended as campaign opportunities, but rather offer a chance for residents to meet with the Assemblywoman and/or her representatives to ask questions, share opinions or seek help with issues they are facing.
SHOW OFF YOUR SKILLS & BAKE SUN CITY A CAKE
Can you believe the community is turning 30 years old? And to think she doesn’t look a day over 29! In honor of the event the Association is throwing Sun City a party on Saturday, October 12, and the whole community is invited. The party, which will take place at the picnic area at Mountain Shadows, will be set to a county fair theme and feature midway-style games for prizes, a DJ, food specials and a cake walk. And that’s where the Link needs your help. The Link is recruiting bakers to help us cook up a few prized desserts. If you remember the cake walks hosted by your schools and churches then you know what fun it is to win a delicious homemade treat. If you have a special cake you’d like to share, contact us at the Link Office, 702-966-1435 and tell us what kind of cake you’ll be bringing. We’re hoping to collect a tasty dozen that will put winners in a state of sugary bliss!
