Board of Directors Set to OK Increase to Annual Dues
The Board of Directors invites all homeowners to attend the annual Budget Ratification meeting on Tuesday, June 11, 9 a.m., at Desert Vista, where it seeks to ratify the 2019/2020 budget. In April, the BOD approved the recommendation of the Finance Committee to adopt a proposed increase from $1,464 to $1,647, a difference of $183 a year or $15.25 per month. The budget will be ratified at the meeting unless, at that time, a majority of all unit owners rejects the budget. For more information and an agenda of the meeting, visit Suncitysummerlin.com. The monthly Board of Directors’ meeting will start directly after the ratification meeting.
Slow Down & Watch Your Speed

Residents may have noticed that the two speed monitoring machines originally located on Button Willow and Villa Ridge drives have been relocated to Sun City Boulevard (east of Highland Falls Golf Course) and Faiss Drive.
The monitors are designed to slow down speeding motorists by alerting them to their actual speed. Residents should remember that the speed limit along Sun City Boulevard is 30 mph, while the speed limit along Faiss Drive (and all interior streets) is 25 mph, unless posted otherwise. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the speed monitors are moved every six to nine months to help keep them effective.

National Fitness Day Brings Out a Crowd
By Jeannette Carrillo/Link
Sun City welcomed residents to the community’s first-ever National Senior Health & Fitness Day on May 29 at Desert Vista. According to SCSCAI Health & Fitness Director, Pam Shields, whose department hosted the event, the main difference between Sun City’s annual health fair in September and the morning’s activity was in the attention it was able to give residents.
“Today’s event was much more interactive,” said Pam. “Residents were able to join in dance and stretch demonstrations, enjoy a smoothie, learn about healthy cooking, get a foot strength analysis and take a ride on an electric bike.
“While this event was a first for us, it won’t be the last.”
A list of participating vendors included Pedego Electric Bikes, UMC Hospital, YMCA, Red Rock Running Company, Juice Plus – Susan Emmett, Bemer – Melissa Blake, Coffee Weight Loss Supplements – Cary Davis, Fara Abassian – Health Holistic Coach and Deb Branch – Licensed massage therapist .
Clubs that offered class demonstrations, or that had an information table at the event included Aquacize, Dance Connection, Zoom Zoom Club, and Fitness Club.
