NOVEMBER LINK CELEBRATES THE 'GREATEST GENERATION'
SAVE THE DATE: To Attend Nov. 13 Residents' Forum Celebration
November is veterans’ month, the time of year that the Residents’ Forum historically salutes Sun City’s military men and women at its monthly meeting. This year, that meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 7 p.m., at Desert Vista.
But this year is special as 2019 marks the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the liberation of Paris and Rome in Europe and victories in Saipan, Guam and Peleliu, as well as major naval battles in the Pacific. To honor those Sun City veterans who served in World War II, the Link magazine has joined with the Residents’ Forum to make this year special.
First, watch your mailbox for the November issue of the Link magazine. Included with that mailing will be another publication — a World War II commemorative booklet detailing the service of 16 Sun City residents who contributed to our winning that war, along with a timeline of the war tying their service to specific events. It is our hope that you will share this booklet with your children and grandchildren so that they may better understand the recent history of our country and the contributions of those who have been dubbed the “Greatest Generation.”

THANK YOU & A BEAR HUG
Sun City resident Bruce Spitzer presented SCSCAI Board member Barbara Holden with a thank you bear at the end of the October 8 Board of Directors’ meeting at Desert Vista. “Evelyn and I wanted to do something special for someone who is very special and who will be leaving soon. The bear represents Barbara in all that she does for everyone. I found a Hawkeyes’ jacket and because I know she is such a fan we bought a bear for the jacket to go on. Then I found a deco-dot bow tie because that’s just Barbara,” Bruce said.

U.S. POST OFFICE DELIVERS
Tim Lineck
Long-time Sun City mail carrier Tim Lineck jumped in to help the 30th Anniversary Committee pull off a successful party on October 12, volunteering to spend a shift in the dunk tank. It didn't take long before Tim got comfortable when the bell sounded to announce someone had hit the bull's-eye! "I got dunked about 10-12 times during the first 15 minutes," Tim said. "It was fun; happy to help." So, a great big Thank You, Tim, from the Link and the 30th Anniversary Committee. You helped make the day a little extra special!
