TEMPORARY OVERT CAMERA SYSTEM
July 27, 2021
Dear Sun City Summerlin Owners and Residents:
As you are driving on Del Webb, on one of the street lights (in the vicinity of the Mountain Shadows Fitness Center) you might notice a box with colored lights near the top of the light pole.
This is a temporary overt camera system assigned to Sun City Summerlin by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The system is designed to draw attention and let people know that this public road is monitored as needed.
The system is linked to the Fusion Watch at Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Headquarters. Officers at Fusion Watch can pull up the camera if they learn of a crime in progress or can review the video if they learn of a crime in the area.
The time frame and location of this camera system is constantly adjusted so criminals do not adapt to its location, so you may see it in different street locations.
This type of monitoring is known as a force multiplier because it allows more officer presence in the Sun City area without officers physically sitting at a specific location 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is believed that use of this overt camera system will help solve and/or deter future burglaries and other crimes in our area.
As always, if you have questions on this topic, please reply to this email and I will do my best to get answers from the police department.
Sincerely,
Mitzi Mills, CAM, AMS ,CMCA, LSM, PCAM

Categories include Architecture, Man-Made and Natural Landscapes in the Community
Las Vegas, Nev. --- Starting July 19, the master-planned community of Summerlin® will accept submissions to its 2021 Summerlin Photography Competition, open to both professional and amateur photographers ages 18 and older. Submissions will be accepted through September 9 under the Event section at Summerlin.com.
Winners will be announced and featured at the 2021 Summerlin Festival of Arts, October 9-10, at Downtown Summerlin®. Winning photos may also be displayed at Downtown Summerlin throughout the year and will be used on Summerlin social media channels with credit given to photographers.
Photographers are invited to submit photos in three categories: architecture, man-made landscapes and natural landscapes within and immediately adjacent the community. To qualify, architectural and man-made landscapes as subject matter must be located within Summerlin; natural landscapes must be located in Summerlin or within the adjacent Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area/Spring Mountain area. For a Summerlin boundary map, check here.
According to Danielle Bisterfeldt, SVP, Marketing and Consumer Experience for Summerlin, the community has long been the subject of thousands of photos seen around the world. “Summerlin is well known for both its natural and man-made beauty, so the photo competition is the perfect way to invite shutterbugs to celebrate the community’s inherent splendor. From the stunning Red Rocks that frame the community’s western edge, to contemporary architecture and well-manicured parks, streetscapes and common areas, Summerlin offers no shortage of ideal subject matter for photographers. We are excited to start receiving submissions!”
Photos will be juried by a team of professional photographers.
