Spring Mountain Ranch Bus Trip a Great Adventure
When I knew I was going to be living in Sun City Summerlin, I read the Link Magazine from cover to cover. The first item that jumped out was “In the Heights,” on July 13 at Spring Mountain Ranch (part of the Super Summer Theatre series).
You go by bus from the Pinnacle Community Center. Well, since I am on my own, that caught my attention as far as how would I get to this theater at night.
Bus on time and driver couldn’t be better. The setting of Spring Mountain theater is gorgeous. The mountains are right there and later on the stars come out. I came from California and haven’t seen too many stars in the sky.
The cast that performed were top-notch dancers, singers and performers. The sets were lovely, and I was kept engaged the entire time.
Couldn’t be a better way to go into the mountains to see a Broadway show and love it!
The one item that topped the evening was the food area, where I walked around and to my shock discovered a bag of popcorn for $1 – a long, large bag freshly being popped. I almost fainted. Where I lived, it cost $6 or $7 for a bag of popcorn. Of course, I ate every kernel. I had brought my wheat thins and veggie cheese (so much for that).
On the bus, which was full, was a fun group of residents who had pre-planned their picnic and sat near me. Out came their tablecloths and an enormous buffet of fabulous food, desserts, fruits, meats and dips,
etc. What a display.
At the park, you can rent a chair for $1 that is totally comfortable. You place it where you want to sit and to another side of the venue people can sit on blankets and picnic. Quite a few hundred people attended the show. In addition to that, there are food trucks and bathrooms all conveniently located.
After the show, the bus picked us up right where we were standing.
It is totally pitch black at the ranch at night, so the bus driver is a hero in my eyes.
Am I glad I went by bus to Spring Mountain’s Super Summer Theatre? Indeed. It was probably a better performance than I had seen in Los Angeles in the last 10 years.
