Meetings to Address New Trash Collection Service
Representatives from Republic Services will conduct three meetings tomorrow, Wednesday, June 20, to explain the company’s move to single-stream recycling. Sun City residents will soon receive their new trash and recycling carts, and the once-a-week service is expected to begin in September.
If you want to learn more about the new trash cans and/or service, or have questions for Republic Services, plan to attend one of the three meetings scheduled at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. inside the Starbright Theatre. Due to space limitations, please only attend one of the sessions. Your questions and answers will be shared with the community in a follow-up “Update From Mitzi” email.

Community Display Boards Get a New Look
The Information Technology (IT) Department has added some important changes to the electronic display boards at the Desert Vista, Mountain Shadows and Pinnacle community centers, as well as at the golf pro shops. In addition to promoting Starbright Theatre and Summit music events, the monitors now feature two crawl sections that update residents on a variety of information.
At the top of the community center screens, you’ll find the day’s weather, along with temperature forecasts for the next two days. The right side of the screens are dedicated to club activities specific to each center, as well as greater community events. For example, if you’re reading the screen at Mountain Shadows, you’ll know when the Bridge Club meets for its games and lessons; at Desert Vista you’ll know what health seminars are scheduled that day. At the bottom of the screens you’ll find local news that’s aimed at keeping you current on what’s happening around the valley.
At the pro shops, you’ll be able to catch amazing drone footage of Sun City’s beautiful courses, as well as learn about special golf rates for residents, upcoming clinics, pro shop sales and demo days. Information on golf club meetings and tournaments will play on the right side of the screen. And, if you need help catching up with your favorite team, sports scores and national sports news will rotate along the bottom of the screen.
In the near future, residents can look forward to electronic display boards coming to the fitness centers.
We hope you like the changes. They are part of Sun City’s commitment to keep residents in the know. So much happens here every day, and we are doing our best to stay on top of the news for you.
