Neighborhood Preparedness Team to Meet on Wednesday, 9 a.m.
The Neighborhood Preparedness Team will meet in Room 5 at Desert Vista on Wednesday, March 20. Doors open at 8:30 a.m.; meeting starts at 9 a.m. This month, the agenda includes sponsorship of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s (LVMPD) class to review home safety devices, as well as a smoke detector pilot awareness project for Sun City residents. Future programs will include LVMPD’s Women’s Personal Safety Class and a community-wide event to raise awareness of products and services that support independent living for senior adults. Residents are encouraged to join NPT. Monthly meetings share information, coffee and sweets.
'The Guardians' Comes to Starbright Theatre
Follow Vegas Voice editors as they explore and uncover abuses of Nevada’s guardianship laws. The critically acclaimed film presents first-person interviews with Las Vegas residents, courtroom footage and more to shed light on a tarnished system. The free film screens at 2 p.m. inside the Starbright Theatre. Seating is first-come, first-served.
Fitness Center Renovations to Close Gym, Pool Area
Three projects scheduled at the Mountain Shadows Fitness Center this month will necessitate closing the gym and outdoor pool area.

- The reception area is under renovation. This project has resulted in a rearranging of the lobby area for easy check-in to the fitness center and all outdoor amenities.
- The gym will close on Monday, March 18, when the carpet is replaced with rubber flooring. This project is expected to be complete by April 1.
- The outdoor pool area is closed and is expected to open on time on April 1.
