PET FAIR SEEKING VOLUNTEERS
Event Needs Contest Judges, Helping Hands for April Event
If you love animals and working behind the scenes at events, does Sun City have an opportunity for you! As the Association is busy planning its second annual pet fair on Saturday, April 18, it is looking for volunteers to help out during the day. The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon, and will take place at the Mountain Shadows picnic area. We are currently seeking judges for contests scheduled throughout the day, volunteers to help with keeping water bowls filled, taking photos, setup and more. If you would like to help out, contact the Link Office at 702-966-1434 or 702-966-1436, or email [email protected] and place the word PETS in the subject line. We'll get back to you ASAP and assign you a spot. Thank you in advance for helping make this event a success!
TALK SAVES LIVES
The Neighborhood Preparedness Team (NPT) presents a program on suicide awareness on Thursday, March 5, 7 p.m., Desert Vista. Seniors make up 12 percent of the U.S. population, but 18 percent of suicides. One hundred members of the armed forces and veterans kill themselves each and every week. This program isn’t meant to make you a mental health professional, but you will learn some warning signs. See what steps you can take to help someone get through their rough times. Presenter Karen Wall is a veteran with personal experience with suicide.
The event is free and open to all residents. Pick up your ticket, which is required for entry, at any Social Monitor station located at Desert Vista, Mountain Shadows or Pinnacle community centers.
