WE'RE IN THE COMMUNITY

As we stroll, bicycle and drive around the community, we find neighbors bringing smiles to our faces.  It's looks like decorating season has already begun in Sun City, and it is smile worthy.

Every year, Sun City Summerlin has a Holiday Lights Contest.  It's a friendly competition between residents and light setup can begin as early as November 27th.  So, gather your lights and décor and show your holiday spirit by lighting up and decorating the outside of your home.  Any home can enter!

Look for detailed information in the November Link magazine.  Until then...please enjoy these homes decorated for Halloween!

SIGN UP NOW FOR THE
SMOKE ALARM REPLACEMENT PROGRAM

If you've been waiting for this program to restart, the time is now.  Here's how to get the job done:
  • Pick up your application at a Social Monitor station at either Pinnacle, Desert Vista or Mt. Shadows.
  • Fill out the application.
  • Make out a check for $135 to “Neighborhood Preparedness Team, or NPT.
  • Update your Emergency Contact sheet.
  • Return the application in the original envelope to the Social Monitor.
You will be contacted by Fire Inspector Zach Collins for a day and time that works for you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

WHY CHANGE MY ALARMS?
A smoke alarm only lasts 10 years or so.  Then the sensor does not work anymore.  You can fill your house with smoke and the alarm will stay silent!

WHAT WILL THIS PROGRAM PROVIDE?
All of your alarms will be replaced.  Replacements have a 10-year battery, meaning no more climbing the ladder.  You will get a combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector.  You will get additional alarms if they are needed to bring you up to code.  And the Inspector will go over fire prevention and protection tips with you.

IS IT SAFE?

Of course.  The fire Inspector and the Sun City helper will both be wearing an N95 respirator.  The Inspector is COVID-19 tested weekly.

If you have any more questions, please contact Michael Pennock at 770-576-9504 or email him at [email protected]
