Board of Directors' Meetings to Move to the Starbright Theatre in August
SAVE THE DATE: Sun City Summerlin’s Board of Directors is changing the date and location of its monthly meeting, starting in August. If you regularly attend the meetings at Desert Vista, please note the change to your calendar. SCSCAI’s Board of Directors meetings will move to the Starbright Theatre at the Pinnacle Community Center, 2215 Thomas Ryan Blvd. Meeting times will remain the same, at 9 a.m., but the day of the week will change to the second Monday of the month. The first meeting on the new schedule will be Monday, August 13, 9 a.m., Starbright Theatre. BOD meeting agendas will remain available the week before the meeting at scscai.com.
Sunshine Service Club Adds New Hours
Sun City’s Sunshine Service Club loans medical equipment and children’s equipment to Sun City residents with an Association ID card. The Club’s warehouse is located next to the Security Patrol office at the back of the Desert Vista parking lot. Some of the items available for checkout include shower seats, wheelchairs, crutches, car seats, high chairs and daybeds. The group also collects aluminum tabs, Campbell’s Soup labels and food donations for charity. Salvation Army’s food barrels are located at the Club's warehouse and in the lobby of the Mountain Shadows Community Center. The warehouse is open Monday through Saturday, 9-11 a.m., and volunteers just added the additional hours of 1-3 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays. Sunshine Service Club members meet on the first Monday of the month at 11 a.m. at Desert Vista. For information on volunteering, or general questions about the Club, call 702-341-9741.
Grape Vine Cafe to Host 'Sideways' Wine Dinner
Grape Vine Cafe, Wine Bar & Cellar, 7501 W. Lake Mead Blvd., invites Sun City residents to its Sideways wine dinner on Wednesday, July 18, 6-9 p.m. The event is $79 per person plus tax and gratuity, and will feature wines by the Hitching Post Winery, The Hitching Post will present Pinot Noirs that were the inspiration for the hit movie “Sideways.”
The menu includes: Burrata and oven-roasted tomato bruschetta with a 2017 Hitching Post Pinks dry rose; sesame-crusted ahi tuna with a2015 Hitching Post Hometown Pinot Noir; spinach & artichoke-stuffed pork chop with a 2015 Hitch Post Highliner Pinot Noir; and a summer berry crumble with a 2015 Hitching Post Gen Red Blend.
